Minimum Eligibility

The eligibility requirement for admission to B.Arch degree programme at SSA is:

  • Pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with either Chemistry or Biology or Technical Vocational subject or Computer Science or Information Technology or Informatics Practices or Engineering Graphics or Business Studies with at least 45% marks in aggregate.
  • Valid Score in NATA.

Frequently Asked Questions

While having an interest in drawing can be helpful, it's not mandatory to be good at sketching. The program develops these skills, and technological tools like CAD, BIM and 3D visualization tools make up for the lack of sketching skills.
You can work as an architect, urban planner, interior designer, landscape architect, project manager, or architectural conservationist. You can also explore alternative careers like architectural journalism, 3D visualization, UI/UX Design, product design or take up academic roles.
Architecture requires dedication and time management due to its mix of creative and technical demands. While challenging, it is equally rewarding for those with a passion for design and problem-solving. Further, multiple activities during the duration of the program, equip students with soft skills like team work, leadership qualities, resource management, risk assessment and planning etc, that are critical to be a successful professional.
Critical thinking, creativity, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and an understanding of space, materials, and sustainability are vital. Technical skills like using design software are also essential. Another skill that needs to be honed is the skill of ‘Observation and Reasoning’. All of these skills will be developed as the student progresses through the program.
The program includes core subjects like architectural design, construction technology, history of architecture, and building services. It also involves practical components like studio work, model-making, site visits, and internships. The program offers multiple elective subjects along with the opportunity to travel as part of the study.
Yes, internships are mandatory in the eighth semester of the program to provide hands-on experience in the architecture profession. Students are given the option of choosing their interested niche in choosing the design studio or firm they prefer to intern with. A portfolio of works over the seven semesters are prepared by the students, which would be sent to various firms which would schedule face to face interactions to finalise their respective interns for the semester.
Architecture focuses on designing spaces that are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and sustainable. Architecture focusses on the human elements that produce a conducive environment for the intended function ensuring productivity and wellness. Civil engineering is more about the technical aspects of construction, such as structural integrity and materials.
Yes, most programs, including ours, integrate sustainability and environmental considerations, teaching students about energy-efficient design, passive principles, and green building techniques.
Entrance exams like NATA and JEE Main (Paper 2) are common. Preparation involves focusing on mathematics, aptitude for architecture, drawing, and spatial reasoning skills.
